The worship committee assists the Pastor, Pastoral Staff, and
Pastoral Council by assessing, planning, and implementing activities
concerned with the celebration of the liturgy and other aspects of worship
at Saint Malachy.
Lay Ministers
-
Eucharistic Minister - assist
in the distribution of the Eucharist at Mass, to the Homebound after
9:00 AM Sunday Mass, the hospitalized at Ohio Valley General Hospital,
and/or on other special occasions.

Lector - reads from Scriptures
during Mass on Sundays, weekdays, and/or other liturgical occasions.

Usher - assists in seating
people, taking the collection, and providing for special needs at
Mass.

Sacristan - maintains
the order of the sacristy and the inventory of supplies for liturgical
services.

Art & Environment Team
- prepares the worship space in a way to enhance the liturgy throughout
the year.
Acolytes
-
Youth Acolyte - boy or girl
in grades 4-12 who fulfills the role of altar server.

Adult Acolyte - adult
who fulfills the role of altar server on weekdays, at funerals,
or other liturgies.

Other Liturgy Assistance

Children's Liturgy of the Word
- children in Grades K to 6 who process to the Church Hall at the
11:00 AM Mass for special readings and return for the Liturgy of
the Eucharist. Volunteers are needed to facilitate this ministry.

Personal Care/Nursing Home
Liturgy - liturgies celebrated on the first Monday of the month
at Willow Lane at 2:00 PM and Sycamore Creek at 3:00 PM.

Funeral Liturgy Planner
- visits with the bereaved family to choose readings and music for
the funeral liturgy.
Para-Liturgical
-
Stations of the Cross
- consists of Living Stations, which is a live production of the
Stations held Friday during Lent and/or Stations at local nursing
homes.

Communion Service at Nursing
Homes - held on the third Monday of each month.

Penance Service - held
at various times throughout the year.
